I am a fully qualified counsellor with four years experience in working with individuals and couples, both in a private and community setting.
My knowledge and practice are regularly updated by continuing professional development.
Personal Approach
Central to my approach is the importance of a respectful, empathic and genuine relationship with clients. The therapeutic relationship gives the opportunity for exploring difficult issues, thoughts and feelings. Experience has shown that this creates the possibility for a person to come to terms with the issues they are facing and move forward in meaningful and positive ways.
I use an integrative counselling model which combines several counselling approaches in order to tailor the counselling to each person or couple's needs. I offer time limited and open ended counselling.
It is important to me that the counselling process attains a high level of professional care and, as a consequence, I abide by the ethical framework of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy of which I am a member. I also have full professional indemnity insurance and am committed to ongoing development.
Areas of Interest
I am especially interested in
spiritual issues, how we attach meaning to our life and how our belief/faith impacts the issues we are facing. How does our particular worldview shape how we view the events of our life?
It has also been particularly rewarding to work with couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship.
Couples counselling can provide a secure and structured way to look at recurring and often painful ways of relating and thereby open up the way to find healthier ways of communicating and being together.
